At least 550 personnel of the Coast Guard District Bicol (CGD-Bicol) will secure the transport of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) paraphernalia to different island provinces and towns in the region.
Ensign Dwan Grace Detoyato, CGD-Bicol spokesperson, said some of the personnel will come from the main headquarters in Legazpi City.
'They will assist the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and other concerned agencies in the different precincts during election day," Detoyato said in an interview on Tuesday.
She said land and water assets of the CGD-Bicol will also be on standby during the Oct. 19 to 28 campaign period, in other election-related activities and even after the polls.
"We will also ensure the safety of the passengers who are expected to return to their respective provinces to participate in the local elections," Detoyato said.
