The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu participated in the 10th "A Taste of Kalihi Festival" on January 14 at the Dillingham Shopping Plaza in Kalihi, Hawaii to support the Filipino businesses in Hawaii.

"A Taste of Kalihi", organized by the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii (FCCH) in cooperation with the City and County of Honolulu, is an annual block party celebration held in Kalihi. Kalihi is home to a thriving population of Filipinos and Filipino businesses in the state.

Forty local exhibitors, businesses, and community organizations participated in the festival.

Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell presented a donation of US$10,000 on behalf of the City and County of Honolulu, to support the FCCH Foundation's programs and activities for 2017.

The Consulate General set up a booth and distributed consular and overseas voting forms, Philippine tourism and investment materials, and answered inquiries from those who visited the booth.

One of the major prizes during the event's raffle draw was a five-star hotel accommodation in Manila sponsored by Tourism Director Richmond Jimenez of the Department of Tourism's Los Angeles office. END
