Bacolod boosts anti-red tape drive with front-line service staff

The city government here has deployed front-line service officers for its public assistance desk at Bacolod City Government Center in line with the implementation of the Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act.

Erman Aguirre, city human resource management officer, said in a statement on Tuesday the desk was relaunched on Monday with Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, who considers customer service a priority of his administration.

Personnel manning the desk will assist clients in public transactions and document processes, and will also address various queries from residents of Bacolod.

“They (the public) can also write down their concerns and recommendations and drop it inside the suggestion box so these can be given attention,” Aguirre said.

The facility aims to strengthen the implementation of the Anti-Red Tape Act to prevent corruption and boost the front-line public service of the city government.

Aguirre said the Human Resource Management Services will conduct a seminar on front office management for the front-line service officers on Sept. 16.

At the start of his administration, Benitez vowed to improve front-line service for efficiency for the city government to develop a closer relationship with the people.

“We will orient and train our front desk personnel to be courteous to our constituents, regardless of status in life. Our front-line employees are the face of the Government Center. They should always be smiling. We are the City of Smiles, right? This way, we give due respect to our people. This way, we give them value that they deserve,” the mayor said.

Benitez has also enjoined city officials and employees to do more than what is expected of them in the delivery of government services.

“Let us all go the extra mile. Let us all work together. We should do nothing less because that is what Bacolod deserves,” he added.
