BARMM Village in North Cotabato Receives PHP25-Million Public Market

North Cotabato – Barangay Datu Binasing, a village in the town of Pigcawayan in North Cotabato, now part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), has received a PHP25-million public market facility from the regional government.

According to Philippines News Agency, BARMM Interior Minister Naguib Sinarimbo, in an interview on Tuesday, stated that the officials of the village, which is part of the Pigcawayan Cluster of the Special Geographic Area (SGA)-BARMM, received the facility on Monday. Sinarimbo highlighted the strategic location of the market in Pigcawayan, emphasizing its potential to create jobs and business opportunities for locals, boost local government revenue, and facilitate community development, particularly in the business sector.

He stressed the importance of creating opportunities for the BARMM government to maintain peace and stability in the region. "When we give community members a chance to provide services through the government, we are offering them a fair income opportunity. This is the secret to good governance," Sinarimbo remarked.

Further development plans are in the pipeline for villages under the SGA-BARMM, which comprises 63 villages in six towns of North Cotabato. These villages opted to join the BARMM during a two-part plebiscite in 2019.
