The Commission on Elections is shortlisted in the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies' (ICPS) International Electoral Affairs Symposium and International Electoral Awards 2016 to be held in Maputo, Mozambique on December 5 to 6, 2016. Comelec is nominated in the Election Management Award category which recognizes electoral management bodies and officials who were able to overcome challenges to successfully conduct a credible, trustworthy and transparent election. "It is an honor to be considered by an international body for our efforts in conducting a clean and honest election. This will only bolster our commitment to ensuring a valid and democratic process," said Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez, who will attend the Symposium and Awards ceremony on behalf of the Commission. The International Electoral Awards 2016 seek to recognize all outstanding achievements in the field of election administration around the world. After the Symposium, which brings together key individuals from electoral management bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), donor agencies and other relevant electoral stakeholders, the ICPS will hold the awards ceremony to acknowledge and honor their significant contributions in the field. The International Centre for Parliamentary Studies provides research, consultancy and training services to support and provide high-level networks for different sectors of the society worldwide involved in various electoral affairs, which is one of its expertise.
