MANILA-- Attached agencies of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) on Thursday took part in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED).
Employees from the People's Television 4 (PTV), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine News Agency (PNA) and the Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS) came out of their offices while doing the 'duck, cover, hold' gesture when the earthquake alarm rang at 2 p.m.
The employees then gathered at the outdoor area of the PIA building that served as the evacuation zone.
A representative of each office also reported the number of personnel who were able to get out of the building as part of the earthquake drill.
PIA Administrative Assistant and Disaster Preparedness and Response Team Leader Francis Martin reminded the employees that even though the area of this quarter's earthquake scenario is Davao City, people in NCR should also be prepared and vigilant.
Martin also stressed that the employees working in a high-rise building should know their way out and must have a survival kit on stand-by in their office which contain essential items such as food and medicine.
The NSED seeks to raise awareness among Filipinos on preparations for the occurrence of a magnitude 7.2 earthquake also known as the 'Big One'.
