LRT-2 offers free rides for FIBA delegates, media

The LRT-2 is offering free rides for athletes and delegates of the FIBA Basketball World Cup starting Aug. 23 until Sept. 12. In an advisory Thursday, the LRT-2 management said the move is in support of the Philippine Sports Commission. Those eligible to avail of the free rides are athletes, coaches, delegates from other countries, FIBA Basketball World Cup organizing committee members, volunteers, accredited media and security personnel. In entering the stations, the eligible individuals need to show their FIBA accreditation pass. The LRT-2 runs from Masinag in Antipolo City to Recto in Manila. Smart Araneta Coliseum, one of the event venues, is only a few meters away from the rail line's Araneta Center-Cubao station. The Philippines co-hosts the highly-anticipated basketball event with Japan and Indonesia. The opening ceremonies will kick off at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan on Aug. 25 while most of the games will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City
