President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday expressed elation over the results of PUBLiCUS Asia Inc.'s PAHAYAG 2023 Second Quarter Survey, which showed that many Filipinos appreciate his work performance. Marcos obtained high approval and trust scores, getting 62 percent and 57 percent, respectively, according to the PUBLiCUS survey conducted from June 8 to 12. In an interview after the Securities and Exchange Commission's 85th-anniversary celebration at its headquarters in Makati City, the President welcomed the poll results, saying it is an indication that Filipinos stand with him as he strives to give them a comfortable life. 'Well, I am glad. Mabuti naman at alam niyo hindi natin makakalimutan na talagang ang sigaw namin kahit nung kampanya pa ay pagkakaisa (It's good that you know that we cannot forget our battle cry during the campaign that is unity),' he said, when sought for reaction. 'Siguro itong ganitong klaseng mga resulta na nangyayari dahil nagkakaisa tayo, nagkakaunawaan tayo. Kaya't for example, sinasabi na tama ang direksyon na tinutunguhan ng ekonomiya, na tinutunguhan ng Pilipinas. Ibig sabihin, sabay-sabay tayong tutulong (Perhaps, this is a result of unity and our collaboration. That's why they are saying our economy, the Philippines is heading in the right direction. That means we stand together). And that's what we're really talking about.' In the survey, PUBLiCUS noted that 'there is also a positive outlook that national economic and financial prospects would further improve as we get into the third quarter.' The poll found that the 'favorable' national issues for the second quarter are the use of renewable energy (87 percent), the nationwide launch of Kadiwa outlets (81 percent), and the establishment of living wages for workers (81 percent). The respondents also welcomed the implementation of the suggested retail price on basic commodities (79 percent), tax on the rich (76 percent), and digital food stamp program (72 percent). Marcos thanked the Filipinos for their continued support for him and his administration, assuring them that the government is exhausting all efforts to improve the economy. 'But of course, still at the very heart of it, I have to thank all those who have continued to support not only myself but all of the different things that we are trying to do to make life better for all Filipinos, to find ways to bring us into the forefront of the global economy,' he said. 'Iyan ang ating habol para sa ekonomiya (That's what we want for the economy). At the same time, we are government after all and the social side of that is also very important. So, talagang pinipilit natin (we are doing everything). But we can only afford a large social program if you have a robust business side that is also giving you returns.' PUBLiCUS, an independent and non-commissioned survey, interviewed 1,500 respondents from Metro Manila, North Luzon, Central Luzon, South Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao
