NBI to probe killing of Cavite health officer

MANILA Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe the killing of Cavite's provincial health officer.

Aguirre on Monday issued Department Order No.486 directing NBI Director Dante Gierran to conduct a probe and case build-up on the death of Dr. George Repique Jr., who was allegedly gunned down by riding-in-tandem suspects around 8:30 p.m. last July 11 in Trece Martires City.

"The director of the NBI is directed to submit report to the office of the undersigned on the development and status of the investigation," read the order.

He was the third government doctor who was killed this year.

In March, Dr. Dreyfuss Perlas was gunned down in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte while ophthalmologist Dr. Sajid Jaja Sinolinding was killed in Cotabato City in April.
