Royal Thai Embassy official shares how Thailand is promoting ASEAN awareness

There are many ways with which Thailand is promoting ASEAN awareness among its people. This was revealed by Yaninee Nachom, first secretary of the Royal Thai Embassy in Manila, during the Forum on Strengthening ASEAN Awareness among Filipino Youth: Toward Regional Community Building, held at GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center Auditorium at UP, Diliman. Ms. Nachom said that aside from curriculum development incorporating ASEAN integration, Thailand is also engaged in the setting up of ASEAN libraries in schools. She added that Thailand also trains professors so that they can incorporate ASEAN in their instructions. Thailand also conducts ASEAN Fora, ASEAN Day and ASEAN Youth Camp for the senior level. Moreover, Ms. Nachom shared that 2016 Advancing Asia: Investing for the Future Youth Video Contest is also conducted. Ms. Nachom's sharing was very well appreciated as it provided the participants the much-needed inspiration to strengthen the promotion of ASEAN Awareness in the Philippines. The public forum on Strengthening ASEAN Awareness among Filipino Youth was organized by the Philippine Studies 268 class, in coordination with the UP ASIAN Center. The forum was attended by students from various schools in Metro Manila and participated by workers in government. The organizers said that as ASEAN moves towards greater economic and political integration, it is imperative for the stakeholders to have deeper understanding of the current policies in order to strategically move forward and take advantage of the opportunities ASEAN presents. -
