Voices of Children (UNICEF)

In the last year alone, millions of children couldn’t go to school, play with friends, get treatment for illness, or have a safe drink of water because of natural disaster or man-made crisis. At any given moment, UNICEF, with the support of the EU, is actively responding to dozens of emergencies around the world that put children in grave danger. But this is only possible if children’s stories are known.

On 15 May 2014, the EU and UNICEF launched the ‘Voices of Children in Emergencies‘ campaign, a joint initiative aimed at sharing the stories of children living through natural disasters, food crises and armed conflicts. These stories were shared through social and media networks of participating UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors as they lend their voices to the children by telling their stories. The campaign has a special focus on children in Jordan, Chad and the Philippines, where joint efforts through the EU-UNICEF partnership helped to bring relief in emergency situations The campaign was rolled out across Europe with local versions for: GreeceIrelandItalyPolandSlovenia, and Spain

So far, the campaign reached 143 million people, across various media, including TV, press, web sites and social media.

Each of us can make a difference. Share the children’s stories. Help them raise their voices.
