SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Antique Electric Cooperative (Anteco) is giving its 114,409 consumers payment options as its way of assisting them due to the increased generation charge reflected in their April 11 to May 11, 2021 billing period.
Anteco information officer Ruth Ann Fadrigo, in an interview Friday, said their board gave their consumers options to pay in installment or in full within 30 days after the billing was issued on June 11 without penalty or surcharges.
“Our accredited centers such as the Palawan Pawnshop, Rural Net, Bayad Centers are open to receive payments,” she said.
On Thursday, Anteco general manager Ludovico Lim, in an online appearance, explained before members of the provincial board that the increase in the billing was due to the pass-on rate of the Whole Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
“We got more energy from the Spot Market or the Independent Electricity Market Operators of Philippines (IEMOP) because of the unscheduled power maintenance of the generators,” he said.
Anteco, the power distributor in Antique province, sourced its electricity from the Panay Energy Development Corporation (PEDC), Green Core Geothermal, Inc. (GCGI), GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC), and at the WESM.
The increased power consumption due to the summer heat and the unscheduled power maintenance shutdown of the PEDC, GCGI, and GMEC led Anteco to secure more supplies from the spot market.
“We were able to purchase 1,938,990 kilowatts from the spot market in order to meet the consumption demand,” he said.
The purchase was for a price of PHP13.3569 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) and consumers were charged PHP11.6280 per kWh.
In the previous month, Anteco only purchased 958,260 kilowatts from the spot market and consumers were only charged PHP10.6544 per kWh
