NegOcc sets P500-K bounty for info on consultant’s slay suspects

The Negros Occidental provincial government has offered a bounty of PHP500,000 to anyone who can provide vital information that would lead to the arrest of the person or persons behind the murder of provincial consultant for hospital operations Mariano Antonio Cui III last April.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson issued the notice of reward on October 6, and a copy of which was posted on the official Facebook page of San Carlos City, the hometown of Cui, on Friday.

The notice advised the public to immediately contact the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Bacolod District Office chief Renoir Baldovino at telephone number (034) 703-2931, if they have available information.

“The Province of Negros Occidental is hereby offering a reward in the amount of PHP500,000,” it said.

Cui, 62, was gunned down on the evening of April 12 in the northern Negros city.

Police investigation showed that Cui was hit by long-range shots while he was about to board his vehicle outside his office at Emerald Arcade on F.C. Ledesma Avenue, Barangay Palampas.

On May 3, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said President Rodrigo Duterte has directed the NBI to look into the Cui slay case, adding that the Chief Executive strongly condemns the incident and vows that justice will be served.

Lacson, who described Cui as “a very good friend,” had said that the family of the late consultant is “very grateful that this has already come to the attention of the President”.

Cui had also worked as the chief of staff of former first district congressman Julio Ledesma IV and as an executive assistant for political affairs of incumbent Rep. Gerardo Valmayor Jr.
