New police directors in Agusan, Surigao Norte assume posts

The provincial offices of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Norte welcomed their new directors who formally assumed their posts on Monday.

Maj. Dorothy Tumulak, information officer of Police Regional Office – Caraga, told the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday that PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat led the turnover of command ceremony at the PRO-13 headquarters here.

“The assignment of new directors in provincial offices is in line with the directive of PNP Chief, Lt. Gen. Dionardo Carlos, especially those who have served for more than one year,” Tumulak said.

Col. Helson Walin assumed his new post as PNP Director of Agusan del Norte replacing Col. Martin Gamba, while Col. Renato Mercado replaced Col. Noel Espinoza as PNP Director of Surigao del Norte.

Both Gamba and Espinoza are now detailed at the PRO-13 headquarters pending their new assignments, Tumulak said.

Caramat recognized the accomplishments of Gamba and Espinoza after they served their respective commands for more than a year.

“I expect the newly installed Provincial Directors to continue the effective and efficient leadership their predecessors have accomplished in giving the community the quality service they deserve in fighting criminality and ensuring public safety,” he said.
