Zambo City regulates movement of unvaxxed persons

Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated individuals here on Thursday were strongly advised to stay home amid the threat of the Omicron variant of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“We have a new executive order (EO). They can only go out for an emergency and other humanitarian purposes,” said Dr. Cathy Garcia, assistant city health officer.

The control on the movement of unvaccinated and partially individuals is under Section 12 of EO 704-2022 issued by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, chair of the local Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

“They are required to bring with them their Q Pass (Quarantine Pass). They cannot just go out on any other day, instead, they will follow their Q Pass schedule,” Garcia said.

Holders of Q Pass A are allowed to go out on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while Q Pass B on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Only front-liners and fully vaccinated individuals are allowed to go out on Sundays.

Garcia said fines await those who fail to present their Q Pass when inspected by policemen tasked to ensure compliance with the Q Pass use.

The move to regulate the movement of unvaccinated and partially vaccinated individuals is to encourage the local populace to submit themselves for vaccination to attain mass population protection soonest.

Data by the city health office showed that 516,311 individuals, representing 74.32 percent of the target eligible population of 694,696 for vaccination, have been fully vaccinated as of January 10.

The same data indicated that 606,265 individuals, representing 87.27 percent of the target eligible population, have received their first dose, also as of January 10.

Twenty-one vaccination sites were opened Thursday catering to adult and pediatric vaccinees for the first and second dose as well booster doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Garcia clarified that the so-called “no vaccine, no ride policy” is not contained in EO 704-2022.
