Zamboanga Peninsula marks 93.87% Covid-19 recoveries

The Department of Health in Zamboanga Peninsula (DOH-9) reported Friday that the region has so far recorded a total of 46,536 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries, representing a recovery rate of 93.87 percent, since the start of the pandemic in March last year.

Meanwhile, the DOH-9 said it has tallied a total of 778 active cases and 2,259 deaths across the region to date.

The DOH-9 cumulative data showed that Zamboanga City registered the highest confirmed cases in the region with 22,355, followed by the province of Zamboanga del Sur with 11,390 cases.

The confirmed cases in other parts of the region are as follows: Zamboanga del Norte, 10,306; Zamboanga Sibugay, 4,133; and, Isabela City, 1,389.

The DOH-9 said apart from posting the highest number of confirmed cases, Zamboanga City also registered the highest number of recoveries with 21,172.

The other areas of the region ranked in terms of recoveries are Zamboanga del Sur with 10,852; Zamboanga del Norte – 9,343; Zamboanga Sibugay – 3,896; and Isabela City – 1,273.

Meanwhile, the province of Zamboanga del Norte registered the highest active cases with 426, the DOH-9 said.

Zamboanga City followed with 168 active cases; Zamboanga del Sur – 93; Isabela City – 61; and Zamboanga Sibugay – 30.

The DOH-9 noted that 50.5 percent of the active cases are asymptomatic; 40.1 percent with mild symptoms; 7.2 percent moderate; and, severe, 2.2 percent.

In terms of Covid-19 deaths, Zamboanga City is on top of the list with 1,015; Zamboanga del Norte – 537; Zamboanga del Sur, – 445; Zamboanga Sibugay – 207; and Isabela City – 55.
