2 nat’l roads with ‘limited access’ due to bad weather

Two national roads in the country have limited access due to the effects of bad weather caused by Typhoon Jolina, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported on Wednesday.

Citing a report from the Bureau of Maintenance, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said as of 6 a.m., the affected roads are in Leyte in Eastern Visayas, and Sultan Kudarat in Soccsksargen.

The Marabong Bridge on Jaro-Dagami-Burauen-Lapaz Road in Barangay Moging, Burauen, Leyte is passable to light vehicles only due to scoured slope protection at the bridge abutment.

The DPWH is continuously monitoring the bridge’s condition as it advised drivers of heavy vehicles travelling from Burauen to La Paz to take Burauen-Julita-Dulag-Mayorga-La Paz and vice versa.

In Sultan Kudarat, only one lane of the Sen. Ninoy Aquino – Kalamansig Road in Barangay Hinalaan, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat is passable to light vehicles only due to soil collapse.

The DPWH earlier activated its disaster risk response management teams at the regional and district engineering offices in areas affected by the typhoon.
