Seven barangays in the Municipality of San Remigio are under granular lockdown until Aug. 31 due to the surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.
Mayor Margarito Mission said in an interview on Thursday that the granular lockdown would prevent the movement of people, which in turn will halt the spread of Covid-19.
Barangays Trinidad and Poblacion have been on granular lockdown since July 26 while similar restriction was imposed on Barangays Barangbang, Magdalena, Trinidad, Maragubdob, and Iguirindon effective Thursday.
Mission said with the implementation of the granular lockdown, non-Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APORs) are required to secure a travel pass from their barangay officials.
“We still allow non-APOR to go out of their homes to buy their essential needs like food,” he said, clarifying that only one family member is allowed to go out, except if they have APORs.
San Remigio, based on the latest report of the Antique Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), is ranked second with the highest number of Covid-19 cases out of the 18 municipalities in the province.
As of Aug. 18, it has 112 active cases with the municipality of San Jose de Buenavista having the highest number of infections at 178.
On the same day, San Remigio reported 25 new local cases.
Of the 25 new cases, 23 are on home quarantine while only two were referred to the Temporary Treatment and Management Facility.
The mayor added that affected families are provided with food packs coming from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office 6.
The municipality received 2,510 family food packs containing six kilos of rice, 10 canned goods, and six sachets of energy drink each from the DSWD.
