Bataan residents urged to get Covid-19 vax as cases rise

Governor Albert Garcia on Tuesday urged his constituents to support the provincial government’s vaccination program amid the rise in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.

“Hinihikayat po ang lahat ng mga Bataeño na makiisa sa ating programang pagbabakuna upang hindi na maulit ang pagdami ng mga pasyenteng may malalang sintomas ng Covid-19 sa ating lalawigan (We are encouraging all Bataeños to cooperate in our vaccination program so that the increase of patients with severe Covid-19 symptoms in the province would not happen again),” Garcia said in a social media post.

The governor asked those unvaccinated to get inoculated and those already fully vaccinated to have their booster shots for their protection against the virus.

He also continuously reminded his constituents to strictly observe safety protocols such as regular washing of hands, wearing of face mask, and observing physical distancing.

A report from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) on Monday night showed that from 53 active cases registered on Saturday, the number spiked to 91 on Monday.

Active cases were recorded in Balanga City with 25; Limay, 16; Mariveles, 15; Orani, 8; Dinalupihan, 6; Samal, 5; Pilar, 4; Hermosa, 4; Morong, 3; Orion, 2; Abucay, 2; and Bagac, 1.

The total number of residents in the province who have tested positive for Covid- 19 is now 29,604, with 28,301 recoveries and 1,212 deaths.
