Caraga breaches 50K Covid-19 infections with 326 new cases

A total of 326 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases were recorded in Caraga Region, breaching the 50,000 number of infections as of Sunday night, the Department of Health (DOH) in Region 13 (Caraga) reported Monday.

DOH-13 said 50,436 total Covid-19 infections are already recorded in the region since the pandemic hit the country in 2020.

“Most of the new infections were recorded in Agusan del Sur with 140, followed by Surigao del Sur with 64,” the DOH-13 said.

This city got the highest number of new infections among cities in the region on Sunday with 46, followed by Tandag (23), Bayugan (15), Bislig (13), Cabadbaran (11), and Surigao (1).

Lower infections were recorded in Agusan del Norte with seven and Surigao del Norte with six while the province of Dinagat Islands had zero Covid-19 infections on the same day.

Also on Sunday, three new recoveries were recorded that brought the total number of cumulative recoveries in the region to 47,350.

The total number of Covid-19 related deaths in the region stands at 1,904 with one new death recorded on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the DOH-13 reported that as of Jan.16, a total of 1,169,347 residents in the region, or 41.61 percent of the target population are fully vaccinated.

More so, a total of 2,488,226 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the region during the period.
