Linemen of the power distribution firms that helped restore electricity in Cebu province after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette will receive a financial incentive of PHP5,000 each, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said Monday night.
The governor included in the incentives the police assigned to the province’s 44 towns and component cities who secured their localities during the calamity.
Garcia said in a presser that the incentives are a token of appreciation for their tireless efforts in restoring power in areas devastated by “Odette” and for helping in the clearing operations.
“This is our appreciation for our distribution utility workers that worked day and night and even during the holidays. And for ensuring that we will be able to have power again, especially (in our) vital facilities,” she said.
Garcia also said water pump stations in the province were able to operate again because of the early restoration of power.
The linemen who will receive the incentive from the Capitol are from the Cebu Electric Cooperative (CEBECO) I, II, III, and the Visayan Electric Co.
The provincial government, she said, wanted to acknowledge their sacrifices to fast-track the re-electrification of affected areas.
Garcia noted that the province was able to deliver the much-needed relief assistance to affected families in localities hit by “Odette” because of the timely clearing operations along major roads.
The Provincial Capitol has the numbers of the linemen and the cops but the officials are still finalizing the procedure for distribution.
