Cops probe possible foul play in woman’s death in MisOr town

The Balingasag police station in Misamis Oriental is conducting a deeper investigation to identify and determine a possible foul play in the death of a woman found Sunday in Sitio Crossing, Barangay Mambayaan of the town.

In a phone interview, Staff Sgt. Ryan Nain, the police investigator on the case, said the victim, wearing a t-shirt with the color combination of red and pink, printed with the animation, remains unidentified as of this writing.

Nain said there were no major injuries found in the victim’s body aside from the wounds in the jaw and forehead.

However, Nain said, based on the initial examination by Dr. Helen Romualdo from the Rural Health Unit (RHU), the slight injuries found in the forehead might be due to the rocky place where the victim was found.

“The municipal health doctor is with us and upon checking by the doctor, there are wounds found in the forehead. But maybe it’s because of the rocks in the area. There were also slight injuries found in her jaw,” Naid said.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim, found lying on the ground with a white blanket, was believed to be dead six hours from the time of being discovered.

Nain said one of the residents in the village discovered the body.

“According to the doctor, there is a possibility that the alleged murder happened in a different area and the victim was just thrown here,” Nain added.

The photo of the body was shared many times on social media by the residents for possible identification of the victim.

However, Nain said there were individuals from Barangay Agay-ayan, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, who came to the Balingasag police station and claimed that they are the relatives of the victim.

The investigator waited for confirmation for them to disclose such information.

The cadaver was brought to Ranas Funeral Homes in Balingasag town.
