Couple, 3-year-old son die in Bataan road mishap

A couple and their three-year-old son died when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) hit the motorcycle they were riding along the Roman Highway here on Saturday night.

In a report on Sunday, Abucay police chief Major Leopoldo Estorque, Jr. said rider Den Mark Magramo, 25, a poultry farm caretaker, and his pillion passenger, live-in partner Jossanye Sarmiento, 23, died on the spot due to the impact of the collision.

Their child, Jed Mark Magramo who was with them, was rushed to the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City but was declared dead on arrival.

The motorcycle was about to turn left toward Sitio Grego in Barangay Calaylayan, this town when bumped by the oncoming Toyota Land Cruiser coming from the city.

Neri Magramo, the mother of Den Mark, said the victims came from their residence in another sitio in Calaylayan and were bound for Sitio Grego to visit them when the accident happened at about 7:30 p.m.

She said that the SUV driver identified as Rissadel Mendoza, human resources manager of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, was first detained at the Abucay municipal police station but later transferred to a hospital.

Neri said they were told that Mendoza would help in the victims’ burial expenses but they have not yet discussed the matter.

Master Sgt. Arnel Alvez, Abucay police investigator, said the SUV driver faces a case for reckless imprudence resulting in death and damage to property.
