DPWH completes 16-bed isolation hub in Nueva Ecija

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a 16-bed isolation facility in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.

The project is in line with the efforts of the DPWH to increase the number of hospital beds dedicated to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients in Central Luzon.

“This new Covid-19 infrastructure will help address San Jose City’s need for additional healthcare facilities especially now that we are experiencing a surge in the number of people affected by the coronavirus disease,” DPWH Nueva Ecija First District Engineer Armando Z. Manabat said in social media post on Thursday.

Manabat said the newly-completed isolation facility will be turned over to the local government within this month.

He said that each room is equipped with an air-conditioning unit, mechanical bed, and table, as well as toilet and bath amenities.

“Apart from the isolation rooms, there are also two quarters available for male and female healthcare workers, a nursing station, an electrical/stockroom, and a pump/generator room to sustain the needs of the users of the said facility,” he added.

Manabat also said another community-based quarantine facility next to the newly-constructed isolation building is expected to be completed this month.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the DPWH has committed to construct more isolation facilities nationwide.

In Central Luzon, the agency has completed quarantine facilities, modular hospitals and other Covid-19 treatment facilities in the seven provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales.
