Gov’t troops fete C-130 fatalities in CamSur rites

The 9th Infantry Division (9ID) of the Philippine Army based in Camarines Sur on Saturday joined the nationwide simultaneous wreath-laying and flag retreat ceremony in military camps to honor the soldiers who perished in the C-130 aircraft crash in Sulu last July 4.

In a statement on Sunday, Capt. John Paul Belleza, the 9ID spokesperson, said their commander, Maj. Gen. Henry Robinson personally extended his condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic incident.

“Dumalo sa seremonya ang mga tiyuhin ni Sgt. Jack Navarro ng Philippine Air Force (PAF) na tubong Baao, Camarines Sur kasama si Municipal Councilor Farah Besinio. Bigo namang makarating ang mga kaanak ng sundalong si Cpl. Dexter Estrada na tubong bayan ng Nabua. (The uncles of Sgt. Jack Navarro of PAF from Baao, Camarines Sur joined the ceremony together with Municipal Councilor Farah Besinio. The family of Cpl. Dexter Estrada who hailed from Nabua failed to attend the ceremony),” he said.

After an interfaith memorial service, a wreath-laying ceremony was held in the Heroes’ Wall of 9ID.

Robinson read the message of sympathy of AFP officer in charge Lt. Gen. Erickson Gloria before the flag retreat ceremony.

Gloria asked the Filipino people to pray for the souls of the fallen members of the armed forces and their families who are still in mourning.
