Following the de-escalation of quarantine classification in Ilocos Norte which is now back to a more relax general community quarantine (GCQ), the cost of rapid antigen test fees has been reduced effective Tuesday.
As earlier promised by Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc to lighten the economic load of returning residents as well as tourists, antigen test for residents would now be priced at PHP300 and PHP600 for tourists staying for two nights.
Ilocos Norte border controllers used to charge PHP800 antigen fee for non-residents and PHP500 for residents.
“The Ilocos Norte government will continue to monitor and evaluate testing costs as it recognizes that our people should be protected from undue financial risks when availing of the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), which is an essential service in this time of public health emergency,” the Ilocos Norte government said in a public advisory.
Since September 27, the province has reopened its borders to leisure travelers, allowing them to visit heritage sites and outdoor attractions, subject to health protocols.
Based on local guidelines, a negative antigen test result is required for those coming from areas under GCQ or modified GCQ areas, and those under Alert Levels 1, 2 and 3.
Non-residents coming from Alert Level 4 are required to present a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results taken within 72 hours before their travel regardless of vaccination status.
