Legazpi residents reminded of protocols amid Omicron threat

The City Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (CIATF) has issued protocol reminders to residents here amid the emerging threat of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Mayor Noel Rosal, CIATF chairperson, on Tuesday appealed to the public to follow the health guidelines under Alert Level 2.

“Unvaccinated individuals who are eligible for vaccination are highly discouraged from going to places that are closed (indoor), crowded, and have a high close-contact potential,” read an advisory issued by the mayor’s office and posted on social media.

It also urged parents to tell their children who are 11 years old and below to stay at home.

“Just a precaution for everyone. For our safety. In the meantime, always wear your mask, especially in closed spaces and indoors. Keep calm and safety first always,” Rosal said in the social media post.

The advisory also said interzonal movement from other parts of the country and intrazonal movement within the region are still allowed, provided vaccination cards are presented.

Meanwhile, booster shots of the Covid-19 vaccines continue to be administered in the city’s different vaccination sites.

As of January 3, Legazpi City has recorded 37 active cases, 2,958 recoveries, and 77 deaths.
