Manila’s 5th housing project begins construction

The city government of Manila will commence the construction of its fifth housing project, the 20-storey Pedro Gil Residences, following Monday’s groundbreaking ceremony.

Located at the corner of A. Francisco and Perlita Streets in San Andres, the project will benefit informal settlers, renters, and government employees.

It will have 309 residential units with two bedrooms each and a floor area of 40 square meters.

Amenities include 125 parking slots, health and fitness center, five elevators, swimming pool, activity lawn, function room, roof garden on the 6th floor roof deck, five units of rentable spaces, outdoor activity areas on the 7th, 13th, and 18th floors, and a basketball court at the roof deck.

This is the fifth housing project of the city after Tondominium 1 and 2, Binondominium, BaseCommunity, and the San Lazaro Residences.

The BaseCommunity has been turned over to beneficiaries while Tondominium 1 and 2 and the Binondominium are expected to be completed within the year.

Domagoso said the housing projects will uplift the status of informal settlers.

“We will not stop. We will put roofs over people’s heads. Bibigyan natin ng kapanatagan sa pamumuhay ang mga taong habang buhay na lang nangungupahan (We will give peace of mind to those people who have been renting all their lives). We will give them homes,” Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said in his speech.
