Med certificate required for unvaxxed with comorbidities: QC

Quezon City residents who remain unvaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) but with existing medical conditions are exempted from undergoing reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.

Such individuals should be allowed to go to work as long as a medical certificate is presented.

“Ang isang unvaccinated na empleyado ay hindi kailangan mag-Covid test kung siya ay may medical condition kaya hindi pwedeng magpabakuna. Kailangan niyang isumite sa kanyang kumpanya ang certification ng kanyang doktor. Dapat ay may contact number ang certification para sa verification (An unvaccinated employee may not undergo Covid test if there is a preexisting medical condition that prevents him or her from getting vaccinated. They need to present a doctor’s certification to the company they work for. The certification should have a contact number for verification),” the city posted on Facebook on Sunday night.

City Ordinance No. 3076, s-2022, and Metro Manila Council Resolution No.22-01, s-2022, issued early January, limit the movements of unvaccinated individuals and impose fines on violators.

Based on the ordinance, unvaccinated individuals are allowed to go to work but must undergo Covid-19 swab tests every two weeks at their own expense.

The city government said an employer may give the unvaccinated employee up to one month before requiring the swab test.

Violators of the ordinance will be fined PHP500 for the first offense, PHP1,000 for the second offense, and PHP3,000 for the third offense.

Establishments that will allow entry of unvaccinated individuals for non-essential activities will also be fined PHP3,000 for the first offense, PHP5,000 with the suspension of business permit and temporary closure order for the second offense, and PHP5,000 and cancellation of business permit and closure order for the third offense.

“Sana ‘yung katulad na lang sa Singapore, maging libre ‘yung gamutan ng vaccinated na magka-Covid tapos ‘yung sa mga unvaccinated na magkaroon ng Covid, bahala na sila magbayad sa sarili nilang gamot. Tutal ginusto din naman nila na ‘wag magpa-vaccine (I wish it would be like in Singapore where vaccinated persons who get infected with Covid will get free treatment while unvaccinated individuals should pay for their treatment. Anyway they chose not to get vaccinated),” netizen Nhettiie Perez posted in reaction to the local government’s post.

As of Sunday, the city government has already administered 4,660,240 Covid-19 vaccines, including booster shots.

A total of 2,107,149 are already fully vaccinated.
