Minimal damage in transport infra after 7.1 quake in DavOr: DOTr

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) reported no injuries and minimal to no damage in all transportation infrastructure affected by the magnitude 7.1 earthquake in Davao Oriental on Thursday.

In an advisory, the DOTr said there were no damage or injuries reported in all port facilities managed by the Philippine Ports Authority, all Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board facilities and public terminals in Region 11, and all Land Transportation Office offices in Region 11.

There were no damage or injuries reported in all Philippine Coast Guard installations, all Maritime Industry Authority properties and at the Davao Airport.

“Per CAAP (Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines), no reported injuries and all personnel are accounted for. No damages to runway, taxiway, and ramp were also reported,” the DOTr said.

At the Mati Airport, preliminary assessment showed minor cracks on the runway but no damage on the passenger terminal building, with full assessment for the airport ongoing.

At around 1:46 a.m., a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck 95 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental at a depth of 39 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt in parts of Mindanao and some areas in the Visayas, with Intensity V felt in Governor Generoso, the City of Mati, Baganga, and Lupon Davao Oriental; Tagum City, Panabo City, Carmen, and Nabunturan in Davao del Norte; General Santos City; Alabel, and Malungon in Sarangani.
