NegOcc acting police chief told to ensure peaceful polls

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has directed newly installed acting police provincial director, Col. Leo Pamittan, to ensure a peaceful and orderly election in the province.

Pamittan took over the helm of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) from Col. Romy Palgue in rites held at the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas headquarters in Iloilo City on Monday and arrived here Tuesday.

“First of all, that we will have peaceful elections. That is the priority and of course, to maintain peace and order here in the province,” Lacson told reporters when asked of his initial directive to the new provincial police chief.

Later in the afternoon, the governor met with Pamittan during his courtesy call at the Provincial Capitol here.

At the NOCPPO headquarters, Pamittan presided over his first staff conference, where he congratulated the chiefs of the 31 city and municipal police stations and provincial headquarters personnel for being awarded as the Best Police Provincial Office for 2021 in Western Visayas during the 120th Police Service Anniversary last October.

“I ask for your continued support and cooperation to ensure the unit remains the top performer in the region,” Pamittan said.
