Pag-IBIG campaigns for ‘kasambahay’ to enroll as members

The Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) in Antique is calling on employers to enroll their kasambahay (domestic workers) as members of the Pag-IBIG to avail of benefits.

Pag-IBIG Antique branch manager Donald Alton Cahilo, in a virtual press conference on Thursday, said that domestic workers are covered under Republic Act 9679 or the Home Development Mutual Fund Law of 2009.

“We invite the employers to visit the Pag-IBIG for the enrollment of their kasambahay,” he said.

He added that the employer will be contributing only 2 percent of the salary of their employee while the kasambahay-member will be paying the monthly contribution of 1 percent.

“The employer and kasambahay will bring their contribution when they come to the Pag-IBIG office,” Cahilo said.

After two years of paying their monthly contribution, the member could already avail of the Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL). They are also eligible to apply for a housing loan.

He said that Pag-IBIG Antique branch, since it opened at the Robinsons Mall Antique in San Jose de Buenavista on December 19, 2019, has already enrolled 13,962 members in the province, composed of government employees, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and barangay officials but none for domestic workers.

He said that they target to have 15,000 members by the end of the year
