Patients of Delta, Beta variants in Lanao Sur recover

Lanao del Sur’s Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) said Friday patients with Delta and Beta variants of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) have already recovered and have been discharged from the treatment facility.

In a statement, the PIATF said five patients were infected with the Delta variant, while one had the Beta variant.

It added that it continues to be vigilant in tracing the close-contacts of the patients and have them undergo reverse transcription – polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or swab test.

“Contact tracing and swab testing were carried out on all identified exposed individuals. Surveillance and follow-up are also being undertaken to ensure that no further transmission will happen with public support and cooperation,” the PIATF said.

Based on its report, the Delta variant patients were three women, one man, and one unreported person aged 21 years to 55 years. The Beta variant patient was an 85-year-old man.

‘No Movement Sundays’

Meanwhile, Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong, who chairs Lanao del Sur’s PIATF, reimposed the “No Movement Sundays” through Resolution 9, series of 2021.

The resolution prohibits non-essential movements and mass gatherings every Sunday from September 4 to 13.

In a Facebook post on Friday night, the policy was extended to September 30.

As of September 9, the PIATF recorded 58 new cases bringing the total active cases to 346.

The province has recorded a total of 3,847 Covid-19 cases since March 2020 with 3,363 recoveries and 138 deaths.
