Residents of seven towns in Pangasinan and San Carlos City have been urged to prepare for a 10-hour power interruption from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
In an advisory, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said San Carlos and the towns of Binmaley, Lingayen, Bugallon, Aguilar, Mangatarem, Urbiztondo and Malasiqui will experience a power outage due to the annual preventive maintenance and testing of Labrador power transformer-associated power equipment and protection.
Through the Central Pangasinan Electric Corp. (Cenpelco), the NGCP said it will also replace rotten poles, among others.
In an interview on Monday, Cenpelco general manager Rodrigo Corpuz said the interruption will push through since NGCP has long scheduled the activities.
Corpuz said Cenpelco will also conduct preventive maintenance on its substations in San Carlos City and Bugallon, as well as replace poles that need to be replaced along with NGCP’s operation.
“We will conduct our maintenance activities as well so that there won’t be a need for another power interruption,” he said.
He added they requested the NGCP to hasten the operation if possible.
