MANILA-- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said that 15 towns in Lanao del Sur have yet to accomplish their Computerized Voters Lists (CVL) due to the ongoing conflict in Marawi City.
According to Comelec Chairman Juan Andres Bautista, these areas have no Project of Precincts (POPs) since their operations are affected by the current crisis.
"I think only 15 have not yet been able to comply. It think the POPs are actually not finished for the 15," he said during the press briefing for the turnover of the financial donation to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday.
At the same time, Bautista commended their personnel in Lanao del Sur for accomplishing the POPs and CVLs of the other municipalities numbering to 25 despite the difficulties they are facing.
"Our Comelec field personnel are really looking for ways to finish their jobs despite the problems they are facing," said Bautista.
The POPs contains data on the number of established precincts, respective number of registered voters, and voting centers.
He assured that all their equipment and records are safely secured in the provincial capitol in Marawi City.
The last day to certify and seal the List of Voters is on July 20, according to the Calendar of Activities for the October 23 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls.
