200,000 VISITORS EXPECTED TO ATTEND INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY FESTIVAL IN PENANG

KUALA LUMPUR, The International Museum Day Festival 2024, to be held at the Dewan Sri Pinang in Padang Kota, Penang from May 13 to 22 is expected to be attended by 200,000 visitors -- both physically and online. National Textile Museum director Tengku Intan Rahimah Tengku Mat Saman, who is also secretary of the national-level International Museum Day Festival 2024 main committee, said various activities have been planned to provide variety to visitors. "Penang is the host (of the celebration) at the national-level this time. The festival, in Dewan Sri Pinang, will see the participation of 38 agencies, institutions as well as museums," she said when she appeared as a guest on the 'Apa Khabar Malaysia' programme, a Bernama TV production. "It is indeed our hope at the Department of Museums Malaysia (JMM), that the 2024 International Museum Day Festival receives the welcome and support of every citizen, especially citizens in Penang as well as those from the other states such as Perak, Kedah and Perlis to com e en masse to take advantage of this opportunity," she said. The 12-day festival boasts many programmes, including sports events that will take place at Padang Kota and beach sports events at Batu Ferringhi. Tengku Intan Rahimah said that there will also be exhibitions and programmes that can help visitors including children in terms of gaining knowledge and new ideas.
