The Kalinga police has arrested two persons and seized over PHP1 million worth of marijuana in a buy-bust operation in the province’s Tabuk City over the weekend.
Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCor) information officer Capt. Marnie Abellanida, in a report released to the media on Monday, said Jeboy Amangan, a 22-year-old student, was arrested in a buy-bust operation at Sitio Pakak, Barangay Agbannawag on Sunday.
His companion, Abel Agaoy, initially eluded arrest during the buy-bust operation but was subsequently arrested.
Seized during the operation were 10 bricks of dried marijuana leaves and stalks weighing more or less 10 kilograms with a standard drug price (SDP) of PHP1.2 million; 50 grams of dried marijuana leaves and stalks found in a carton worth PHP6,000.
The two will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002
Abellanida said the policemen in the region continue to perform their mandate of securing the residents from criminality and illegal drugs aside from doing their coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) duties and implementing the election gun ban.
“Amid busy schedules, our police operatives continue to do their duties because they have sworn to be of service to all of us,” he said.
