P13.8-M ‘shabu’ seized in sting ops in Cebu City

Two delivery men were arrested on Saturday in two anti-drug sting operations while authorities confiscated more than two kilos of suspected shabu worth PHP13.8 million.

Cebu City police chief, Col. Ernesto Salvador Tagle, said the twin operations resulted in the arrest of Lyle Padilla, 34, a logistics firm worker; and Vincent Ian Niel Biolanda, 30, both residents of Spolarium Street, Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

Tagle witnessed the on-site chain-of-custody inventory of the pieces of evidence confiscated.

He lauded the team of the Mambaling Police Office, headed by Maj. Dindo Alaraz, for the successful buy-bust operation that first led to the arrest of Biolanda and the subsequent sting operation that netted Padilla.

Biolanda was arrested on Carlock St., Barangay Duljo-Fatima, and yielded 1.15-kilos of drugs worth PHP7 million.

Alaraz told reporters that they used the information they gathered from Biolanda to conduct a follow-through operation against his source and logistics man, Padilla, who was collared on Vestil St., Barangay Mambaling with a kilo of drugs worth PHP6.8 million.

The seized drugs will be sent to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory in the region for examination.

“Lyle is working in a logistics firm and based on our intelligence information, he received the items. Vincent is Lyle’s down-line distributor,” Alaraz said in Cebuano.
