24K indigents get P189-M PCSO medical aid in November

MANILA: The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has released over PHP189.37 million in medical assistance to a total of 24,545 eligible beneficiaries nationwide in November.

 

Citing the latest data released on Thursday, the state lottery agency said the funds were released to beneficiaries through the agency’s Medical Access Program (MAP).

 

In Luzon, the beneficiaries include 3,116 indigents from the National Capital Region which received PHP42.03 million worth of assistance; 5,640 from Northern and Central Luzon which were given PHP44.1 million; 6,318 from the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region which got PHP38.9 million.

 

In the Visayas, 4,844 individuals were provided with PHP34.2 million in medical aid while 4,627 individuals received PHP30 million in Mindanao.

 

The MAP, formerly known as the Individual Medical Assistance Program, is designed to augment medical assistance for indigent Filipinos, particularly for hospital confinement, chemotherapy, dialysis and post-transplant medicines.

 

The program is funded by revenues from PCSO games nationwide.
