45 drug offenders in Tarlac complete reformation program

Forty-five drug offenders in Moncada, Tarlac have completed a three-month reformation program to help them become more productive while reintegrating into the community.

The drug reformists from different villages in the town were temporarily sheltered at Balay Silangan, where they underwent psychological, spiritual, and physical activities for 90 days.

Martin R. Francia, deputy regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon (PDEA-3), said on Friday the Balay Silangan reformation program aims to adopt the implementation of a family-based in-house reformation.

Francia said the program gives intervention, counseling, and livelihood with the objective of helping drug offenders to become productive and law-abiding citizens upon being reintegrated into society.

He urged the completers of the program to live renewed lives.

He likewise commended the local government units in Tarlac for their active involvement in the implementation of the program.

Moncada Mayor Estelita Aquino expressed hope that the drug reformists will successfully lead better lives after their confinement in the facility.

“Patuloy kaming magiging totoo sa aming pangako na suportahan kayo at gawin kayong priority nang sa ganon ay magpatuloy ang aming pangangalaga sa inyo at nang hindi na ninyo tahakin pa ang maling landas (We will continuously be true to our promise that we will support you and make you as priority so that we could continue in taking care of you so that you would not to go through a wrong path again),” Aquino said in social media post.

The Balay Silangan Reformation Center in Moncada was opened in July last year.
