MANILA-- The magnitude 6.5 earthquake that shook Jaro, Leyte at 4:03 p.m. Thursday has caused a blackout in Leyte, Samar, and Bohol islands, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) reported.
"Panay, Negros and Cebu islands experienced power interruptions but are now fully restored," it said in an advisory released at 6 p.m.
The NGCP said it is still assessing the extent of the damage to its transmission facilities in the Visayas region.
Aerial and foot patrol will start, once it is safe, it said, adding that updates will be issued as soon as available.
