The intensified anti-criminality operations conducted by the Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) have resulted in the arrest of 367 law violators from Sept. 17 to Oct. 2 this year.
In a press release Monday (Oct. 5), PRO-13 said the start of the anti-crime campaign coincided with the assumption of Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat, Jr. as the new PRO-13 chief, replacing Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr. who retired from service.
According to PRO-13, Caraga’s various police units managed to arrest within the period 41 persons for illegal drugs, 76 for illegal gambling, 30 for loose firearms, 17 for illegal logging, and 97 for illegal fishing.
A total of 106 wanted persons were also captured during the period.
Likewise, PRO-13 data showed that a total of 36 anti-illegal drugs operations were also conducted during the period that resulted in the seizure of 57.94 grams of shabu and 38.282 grams of marijuana valued at PHP685,797.
A total of 59 anti-illegal logging operations were also conducted that led to the confiscation of 19,342.39 board feet and 80.07 cubic meters of illegally cut logs with a value of over PHP1.1 million.
Meanwhile, PRO-13 said its anti-insurgency efforts have also led to the surrender of 34 communist New People’s Army rebels in the area during the period.
“PNP Caraga will continue to strengthen the anti-criminality and anti-insurgency campaigns, as well as its crime-solving efforts to improve peace and order and ensure the safety and security of all Caraganons,” Caramat was quoted as saying.
