Bulacan: Troops of the Philippine Army's 70th Infantry Battalion (70IB) recovered on Friday firearm components and logistical supplies believed to have been used by dismantled communist terrorist groups during a security operation in Do±a Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan. The operation was conducted in the vicinity of Sitio Macua, Barangay Kabayunan under the supervision of Joint Task Group 7-2, following information provided by a concerned citizen.
According to Philippines News Agency, authorities said the recovered items were linked to the Dismantled Komiteng Rehiyon Gitnang Luzon (DKRGL) and the Dismantled KLG Narciso. Recovered items included a plastic gallon containing rice, a water plastic container with rice, an M16A1 lower receiver bearing serial number RP 181892, and an M16A1 rifle barrel.
Military officials indicated that the recovery underscored the continued degradation of the logistical support and armed capability of communist terrorist group remnants in the area. The items were reportedly abandoned due to sustained pressure from government forces, preventing the groups from regrouping or restoring their former operational capability.
Brig. Gen. Eugenio Julio Osias IV, commander of Joint Task Group 7-2, stated, "This accomplishment highlights the vital role of community cooperation in our security efforts. The information provided by a concerned citizen significantly contributed to the recovery of firearm components and logistical supplies belonging to the dismantled KRGL and KLG Narciso. This further confirms that these groups no longer possess the capability to conduct organized armed activities."
He urged the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting government efforts by promptly reporting information that could help prevent the resurgence of terrorist groups. The Philippine Army assured the public that security operations will continue in close coordination with local government units and partner agencies to sustain peace, security, and stability in Bulacan and neighboring areas.
