MANILA-- A very sincere and heartfelt thank you.
This was the statement of Philippine National Police (PNP) head Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa when asked Monday for a comment regarding the level of support President Rodrigo Duterte has given to the police.
"I can't ask for more from the President. He has been very supportive to the PNP all the way since Day 1 of his administration," he said in Filipino.
This despite the budgetary constraints, Dela Rosa stressed.
"Much as I desire to have all these capability enhancement equipment and everything, (I can rest assured) that there is no need to ask him what is good for the PNP (as) the PNP is in his mind all the time," the PNP chief pointed out.
The enhancement Dela Rosa wants for the PNP is the so-called move, shoot, communicate and investigate capability along with helicopters and high-powered firearms. Those order is still pending as of this time.
He noted these improvements are needed in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency.
