MANILAIf the local elections were held on Tuesday, Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte would win over QC 1st District Rep. Vincent Crisologo for the highest position in the city.
In #PahayagNCR, an independent poll conducted by research company Publicus Asia, Inc. on Nov. 16-20 from among 1,800 registered voters in Metro Manila, Belmonte garnered 59 percent, edging out Crisologo with 17 percent of the votes.
In the poll, 16 percent remained undecided and 6 percent voted to abstain.
"I'm very thankful to God and to our constituents for this positive response. We have a long way to go, but I am confident that my call for better governance and inclusive development will be heard loud and clear," Belmonte said when asked for a comment.
Belmonte, who is on her third term as vice mayor, is running under a platform of good governance and improved social services for her mayoral candidacy in Quezon City.
On the other hand, Crisologo ranked over Ismael "Chuck" Mathay III, who only garnered 2 percent of the votes.
For the vice mayoral position, Councilor Gian Carlo Sotto, got 42 percent, topping the poll. Lagging behind were Jopet Sison, with 15 percent, and Roderick Paulate, with 13 percent.
With more than five months before the May 13, 2019 elections, the poll served as an independent, non-commissioned 'baseline' poll, the #PahayagNCR said in a statement. (PNA)
