BERNAMA, CMG TO SIGN MOU ON MEDIA CONTENT EXCHANGES

KUALA LUMPUR, The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) and China Media Group (CMG) Asia Pacific will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on media content exchanges as both sides look to advance strategic collaboration between media players in the two countries. The development was revealed by Bernama's Executive Editor for International News Service, Ravichandran DJ Paul, after a bilateral meeting with visiting CMG's Deputy Chief Liao Li and her delegation to the news agency's headquarters Wisma Bernama here on Tuesday. The proposed MoU, which is in the final phase of preparation, is not just timely to bolster Bernama's mission to provide the latest and quality media content across all platforms to its audience worldwide, but it is also significant in view of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations this year. The agreement will be first signed by GMC, the world's largest media conglomerate, with a local media organisation in Malaysia. Meanwhile, Liao expr essed optimism that CMG's partnership with Bernama will spearhead more solid cooperation between the two organisations beyond media content exchanges to include technology and capacity building. She also proposed for Bernama and CMG to co-produce a special programme to commemorate the Golden Jubilee celebration. On another development, Liao said that in order to show support for Malaysia as an important member of ASEAN, CMG is ready to publish and broadcast more media content related to Malaysia's ASEAN chairmanship next year.
