Bulacan town mayor tests positive for Covid-19

Mayor Ferdinand Estrella here admitted on Tuesday that he was tested positive for the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) based on the result released by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

Estrella, in his statement, said his constituents have the right to know his situation.

The mayor said he felt weak the past few days and was having cough and colds, prompting him to go to the hospital for a check -up.

The town executive is currently confined in an undisclosed hospital.

“Sa ngayon, maayos po ang aking kalagayan. At umaasang sa mga susunod na araw ay makakalabas na sa pagamutan (As of now, my condition is stable and I am hoping that in the next days, I will get out from the hospital),” he said.

Despite his condition, Estrella said his "Serbisyong may Malasakit" continues.

“I may not be physically present at the moment, but rest assured that you have a working government,” the mayor said as he disclosed that the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Cris Clemente and the Task Force Covid19 are leading in the delivery of services.

He appealed to all to stay home as “it is the safest place not to get infected with Covid-19.”

Estrella did not elaborate on how he contracted the disease.

He is the fifth confirmed Covid-19 case reported in the province. There are two in the City of San Jose del Monte, one in Guiguinto town and one in the City of Malolos.

Meanwhile, a total lockdown is strictly implemented by the local government of Pandi to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Pandi Mayor Enrico Roque said the strict implementation of "no entry, no exit" started on Tuesday wherein unauthorized entry of persons from other places are not allowed.
