C. Luzon cops nab 45 suspects in weekend ops

A total of 45 individuals were arrested during the implementation of search warrants across Central Luzon over the weekend.

In his report on Monday, Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen, Police Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3) chief, said the apprehensions resulted from 51 operations launched regionwide.

He said authorities also confiscated 50 assorted firearms and some 62.9 grams of shabu with a Dangerous Drugs Board-estimated value of more than PHP400,000.

Pasiwen said they continuously beef up the drive to recover and seize loose firearms through police operations and implementation of search warrants against illegal gun owners.

“May this serve as a stern warning to all especially those who have not yet renewed their licenses or turned over their undocumented firearms in their nearest police stations for safekeeping,” he said in a statement.

Pasiwen also said a series of anti-drug operations are launched in the region to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in line with the directives of PNP chief, Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. to fight all forms of lawlessness, especially illegal drugs.

Aside from being charged with the violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, three of the 45 suspects will also be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
