Manila: Fixed broadband and technology provider Converge ICT is focused on providing internet access to more areas in the country, particularly in the Visayas and Mindanao, with the aim to roll out almost 1 million additional ports this year. Converge chief executive officer and co-founder Dennis Uy, in an online briefing Friday, said they target to further strengthen their port utilization after this increased to 37 percent in end-2025 due to strong demand for the firm's FiberX plans and the low-cost postpaid BIDA Fiber. He said that with over a thousand municipalities in the country, they aim to add 600 to 700 more, including the second and third class municipalities in Mindanao. 'We're trying to penetrate them because this is the market segment, especially for the prepaid segment... So, that's our focus - so each Philippine home can be connected through us,' he said.
According to Philippines News Agency, last week, Converge reported a 10.2-percent rise in consolidated revenues for 2025 to PHP44.8 billion, from PHP40.6 billion in 2024. This was driven by the 20.3-percent growth in enterprise revenue to PHP7.4 billion from PHP6.2 billion in the previous year, followed by the 8.4 percent annual rise in residential business to PHP37.3 billion. Net income grew 9.6 percent to PHP11.9 billion. The company has allocated PHP23 billion capital expenditure for this year, and an 8 percent to 10 percent growth in consolidated revenues.
Converge chief operations officer Benjamin Azada, during the same briefing, said they target to expand in several areas in the Visayas and Mindanao such as Capiz, Samar, Bukidnon, Davao de Oro and Sultan Kudarat. He said more than half of their revenues come from Luzon. 'So in Mindanao, that's small but growing, definitely an area of growth for us. We're already in Davao and surrounding areas and CDO (Cagayan de Oro), and we've started operations in Zamboanga. We plan to expand to all major cities across the island,' he said.
