The Department of Education in Ilocos Norte is urging parents and guardians of all five year old children as well as incoming Grades 1, 7 and 11 students to have them registered early for the coming school year.

In preparation for the opening of School Year 2020 2021, Schools Division Superintendent Joan Corpuz announced Wednesday that early registration is now ongoing until February 28.

Early registration helps the department prepare for possible concerns when the new school year comes, she said.

Corpuz has ordered all public schools to conduct information campaigns to spread awareness on the early registration period.

School division heads and schools were also directed to conduct door to door campaigns and meetings with parents, village officials, and civil society groups to raise awareness on the early registration.

During the month long early registration period, students will be listed, enrolled in school, and informed, along with the parents, of policies on collection of fees.

They will also have their learner information updated and encoded into the DepEd's system.

Special Education schools located in various parts of the province have also expressed readiness to welcome new learners with special needs.
